Since 2018, my collaboration with House of Daan has been a journey of creative exploration, where we blend the worlds of photography, video and crochet to challenge the boundaries of gender, sexuality, and identity.
Our paths crossed through a mutual friend who, knowing our shared values and passions, told us we needed to meet. And from that moment, our artistic synergy was undeniable.
House of Daan’s intricate crochet works are more than just textile art—they are powerful statements of self-expression, questioning societal norms and celebrating the fluidity of sexuality. By combining her craft with my photographic storytelling, we create visual narratives that disrupt conventional ideas of the body and self.
At the heart of this collaboration is our shared studio space, Villa Genitalia—a place where experimentation thrives, ideas are exchanged, and boundaries are constantly pushed. It’s here that we both find inspiration and challenge each other to explore new ways of representing human identity and experience. Villa Genitalia is more than just a studio; it’s a symbol of our shared commitment to questioning societal expectations and celebrating diversity.
Together, House of Daan and I use our art to question, redefine, and expand the ways we perceive our bodies, our identities, and our connections to each other. It’s an ongoing exploration where crochet, photography and video collide to form new, thought-provoking expressions of individuality and community.
